Best Tortilla Recipe

I am finally posting this tortilla recipe so I don't keep losing it. It is the best one we have tried. Try it!

3 Cups of flour
1/2 Tablespoon Salt
1/4 Teaspoon Baking Powder
1/4 Cup oil
1 Cup of water
- Mix together then kneed until dough is smooth. Roll out with a rolling pin and cook in a little bit of oil or on a non-stick pan.

Good luck!

Abby

I know I don't post many pictures or anything for that matter. Here is a pic Jeremy took the other day. I can't believe how big she is.

Thanksgiving 2012

Yes, we are still alive! We spent Thanksgiving up in New Hampshire. On the way home we stopped off at a Christmas Tree Farm. It was so fun. Enjoy the pics. Jeremy took them with his phone so they are a little shaky.

I just realized we didn't take any pictures of Abby and since it was Jeremy's phone in action he didn't get in any of the shots either. We will try and post more later.

Trunk or Treat

Jeremy and Talmage dressed liked missionary companions for our Ward's Trunk or Treat.
I wasn't sure if Talmage would understand the whole missionary thing, but he caught on right away.

Abigail Elizabeth Thurber

Abby was born October 18, 2011. She weighed 7 lb 13oz and was 20.5 inches.
I was induced early in the morning just after 6:00am. I was already dilated to a 2-3 when we started. It took 2 1/2 hours to move to 5-6. After being in at the stage for 10-15 min I started feeling pressure and felt like maybe I should start pushing soon. The nurse checked me again and I had moved to an 8. She called my midwife (who got here amazingly fast). My midwife checked me and I was a 10. YAY! Well kind of...it was all very painful. Anyway, they all got suited up and I started pushing. 3-4 pushes and she was out. Born 10:06am. Just around 4 hours after being induced. It was quite the experience. I didn't get an epidural. Doing it naturally was a very different experience. I would never suggest that someone do it that way, but if you chose to know that you can do it!

Here are some pictures!

Before and After

One of my new hobbies is restoring junk. I found this in the dumpster a couple of weeks ago. The strip around the edges was coming off, it had tracks running along the inside of the table, and the color wouldn't match anything else in my house.

Because I am pregnant (SURPRISE IN CASE YOU DIDN'T KNOW!! We are 5 1/2 months along) Jeremy stripped the finish off for me.

I sanded while Talmage kept it dusted.

Then he helped me sand. He LOVED it :)

What it looked like after we sanded it

I decided to stain the top cherry wood and paint the bottom a gloss black. I didn't realize I needed to put a primer on before the paint so I ended up having to re-sand it after I painted it the first time, but I think it turned out nice :)

I had a dream...

....last night about this blog. Jeremy had made 3 posts to catch us up on our summer comings and goings. I felt such a relief that I wouldn't have to worry about it. This morning I awoke to realize this wasn't true. Sadness :( lol

long time coming....the Virgin Islands

We went to the Virgin Islands for 10 days. Jeremy was sent there to work. Thanks E&Y!!! All we had to pay for was my plane ticket and food. It was so much fun. Jeremy worked a lot, but Talmage and I had a fun time playing and shopping. The island was so beautiful. The above shot is a picture I took while I was running one morning. The sun would be up by 5:30am so we did a lot of early morning runs. It would get dark by 7pm.

We are so glad when daddy comes home!!
On a walk. "Mom, what are you looking at?"

This was the view from our Condo

The beaches there are so beautiful. While we swam we could see fish. We tried getting a picture of the them, but they were too fast. Jeremy and Talmage buried me in the sand!! It actually felt really nice.
Talmage loves, loves, loves playing in the sand. The sand is so soft there it turns to mud when it is mixed with water. It doesn't brush off like rocky sand does. We were literally caked in sand after the beach.

We just so happen to be hanging out in St. Thomas this week and next. I'm down here auditing the government of the Virgin Islands. It is amazingly beautiful. We're staying at an amazing place with a perfect view of the ocean. We'll post pictures later.

What we did last weekend

Our baby waving goodbye to us. I would never have left him with anyone else accept Karen (my mother-in-law). Thank you Karen!!!

Our Indian war dance. I think we look quite authentic :)

Magic Kingdom. We only got to be in there 10 minutes, but we took some great pictures.

Epcot. This was the beginning of the day so my hair still looked ok. haha.

I think there is a direct correlation between going to the Temple and having shorter lines at Disney World.

Thank-you Karen for watching Talmage (can never say that too much), and Stephanie and Grant for going with us and making it so much fun, and Thane and Esther for letting us crash at your place (hope to return the favor sometime soon).

Something that made my day

Last Thursday after I picked Jeremy up from work he had to run downtown to the office to get some files. Many of the roads around the office were blocked off because of tax protesters (T.E.A Party Members) so we had to park illegally. I stayed in the car while Jeremy went to get his files. When Jeremy was coming back to the car he asked a man who was carrying a lot of things while trying to maneuver a wheelbarrow if he needed any help. The man's friends (I don't know why they weren't helping him) asked Jeremy if he was running for a political office. I thought it was pretty cool. I kind of liked the idea. Jeremy just smiled and said, "no, but maybe someday."

April 15th

Tax Day! We did our taxes and received some money. YAY!

But my question for you is about the TEA Party.

Are you a member? If you are a member then are you going to a rally today?

Would you ever become a member?

Do you know anything about them?

I am intrigued about TEA Party.

something every woman's closet should have

A pair of black boots. I am currently in the market for a pair. Any suggestions on where to buy some?

Apr 10, 2010

something that made me smile :)

After a full morning of taking care of Talmage, Jeremy had to take a nap.

It's good to know that I'm not the only one who needs a nap when the baby goes to sleep.

Easter/General Conference

This was Talmage watching General Conference. I have no clue what he found so entertaining

If he wasn't sitting back and staring he was right up in the screen

Easter baskets are a tradition in Jeremy's family. It was fun to see how much Talmage liked his

The Beach

We went to the beach on Friday with a friend and her baby. I think I will go more often.

He just loved the sand!

I am so white! I need a tan.

A Fun Saturday

We spent the afternoon at a birthday party at the park. In MARCH!!! The weather was so nice!! Did I mention it was in March :) I am so glad we live in Florida. It was around 75 degrees.
Talmage loved the plastic cups. He had to have one in his hand almost the whole time :)

He thought the red Tunnel was so cool. It wasn't very long so if we didn't hold him he would crawl out the other side and fall down.

Some of these pictures were taken a while ago, but I haven't gotten around to posting them. So there is a span of about 3-4 months. Enjoy!
