Taiwan

TAIWAN
Hello Everyone! We just got back form our Taiwan trip last night (We actually got back a week ago, but I have been so busy I didn't post the blog until today). It was very exciting! We have a ton of pictures from the Taiwan trip (we took over 275). Taiwan is so amazing. The people there are so nice.

Jeremy and his brother, Brian, served their missions in Taiwan so we were able to meet a lot of really amazing people. This is Doctor Yang and the Tang Family. Brother Tang has participated in the baptism of eight of his friends who he has shared the gospel with since he was baptised.

We also got to use several modes of transportation. We used a plane, train, fast train (which is different then a regular train b/c it goes 3 times as fast), subway, taxi, regular bus, double decker bus, car, and our feet. The traffic there is crazy! They can make two lanes out of one lane and if you are in the left turning lane and decide to go right it is OK as long as you can beat the other cars of the line. It is survival of the fittest on the roads.

This is the double Decker bus we took to the airport.

All of us with President Hsu and his wife (Brian's mission president).

Jeremy and I in the Bamboo forest. It was raining that day. . . actually it rained every day. That wasn't too bad b/c I like rain, but I was happy to get home to Sunny Provo.

This Buddha statue looks even bigger in real life. We had to walk up this incredible long high trail to be able to reach this Buddha Temple.

They have very funny English translations. This was in the bathroom of our first hotel. We made sure we kept the floor very wet ; )

We absolutely loved the trip. Jeremy and I want to become world travels so I guess Taiwan was a big addition to the travel log we hope to expand.

busy month

Wow! I haven't posted anything for a long time! We have been super busy lately (my long term excuse for anything). One of the things we wanted to do this summer is organize our messy storage room. It was quite the adventure. We even took before and after pictures to show off our cleaning talents.

This is before
This is after
Do you notice a difference? We sure do.

We have also been really busy with work, our garden and having fun!

This is a random pic we took today. Jeremy didn't mean to have is eyes closed, but I think it gave it a nice affect.

Oh well this is kind of a short blog, but I figured I had to post something. I hope everyone is having a great summer!

Change

Jeremy and I have been married for 18 months and a couple of weeks. Many people get married because they have common interests, goals and/or ways of thinkings. One of the things that Jeremy and I both like is change. Out of the 18 months we have been married we have moved three times and been in three different wards (all BYU Married Student Wards). Now we are about to be in our fourth ward. Our ward got split today. Ya, can you believe it! I was so surprised when they announced it. I thought that only family wards got split, but I was proven wrong. There are 16 couples that are being excused/kicked-out/transfered (however you want to put it) from our ward.
We are actually excited to meet a lot of new people even though we will really miss those who are staying in the ward.

An amazing week!

Whew! I am beat. I just finished an extremely intense, and might I add, very early workout taught by Katie (thanks Lori for helping to get my lazy body out of bed).

So being new to this blogger site I don't know how to add pictures to my posts (WARNING!! Maggie about to start experimenting on computer!). I will try and add pictures to this post, please let me know how you think it turns out.

We have had an extremely busy week at the Thurbers. Jeremy's brother, Brian, came home from is mission in Taiwan on Friday, Jeremy's sister, Cindy, and her family came into town, Jeremy's other sister, Elisa, starred in Mulan as Mulan, and I got a chance to play "hairdresser" as I helped dye hair.

This is me helping to put some highlights in Karen's (Jeremy's mom) hair last Thursday.

Elisa has long beautiful blond hair so we got to put a temporary dye in before the Mulan show each night. The first night was almost a disaster (partly because of our inexperience at being beauticians and partly because the stupid dye wouldn't work). All was saved after Cindy went to a party store to get us some black hairspray. The next couple of nights we just stuck with the hairspray and forgot about the dye.
This is a picture of Elisa with half her hair sprayed. Can you tell the difference!

Because Elisa's opening night was at the same night as when Brian got home I volunteered to go to the play while the rest of the family went to pick up Brian. Elisa did a fantastic job. She has such a beautiful voice. I was so impressed. After the play we went out to eat at Panda Express while waiting for the family to come home from the airport.

After Brian got home we all stayed around for a while just making small talk (picture of Brian soon to come), then the Stake President came and set Brian apart. That was a really special/amazing/emotional experience. For the rest of the weekend until now we have been reacquainting ourselves with Brian (who is very smart and rather witty. BYU single girls, WATCH OUT!), watch Elisa on her other two nights of performances (yes, I went to all three nights. I was so proud of Elisa I cried like a baby), went shopping and have played with Cindy's new daughter Stephanie.

It has been such a fun fulfilling week. I hate to see it end when Cindy, Kyle, Aaron and Stephanie have to go back home. Well I better run, our house needs some serious attention! cya.

I'm free, I'm free!!

I am so excited for this day to be over. About a week ago (before finals) I thought that summer vacation had practically started because classes were over. I mistakenly believed finals would be a breeze. HOW wrong can a girl be?!? I have spent the last 72 hours in sheer panic- yes, tears were shed- trying to get everything done I needed to finish before tonight at 9:00pm. I am so lucky I have an understanding husband, he really brought me through. Anyway, I am happy to announce that finals are now over and I can breathe again. Now my most important question is what I should do with my new found freedom. After this blog I am planning on going to bed for a very long time, but my life is pretty boring after that. So I am open for suggestions. Anyone have any fun summer plans they could pass on to me?

Lost and Found

I am counting down the minute to 3:30pm right now. I have to go to work and I am dreading it. I have had a wonderful day being lazy and having fun playing games with Jeremy and I do not feel like ending it right now. Oh well, all good things must come to an end. Sigh.

I thought that while I am waiting I would post blog for fun. Yesterday a wonderful thing happened. We found our marriage license. We have been looking for our license for a week now and have practically turned our house upside down in the process. We need our marriage license to get a drivers license in my married name (yup, I still don't have a marriage license in my married name even though we have been hitched over a year). Finding it was like a miracle. We had said a short prayer and then Jeremy said he thought we should look in my dresser (even though I had already looked 3 times). I didn't know of anywhere else where we hadn't looked so I started looking through my dresser again, but this time I took all the drawers out and found it behind the middle drawer. I am still ecstatic! We went to the DMV yesterday and got my drivers license and so I finally have a drivers license with my new last name on it.

It's about time...

So we have had this blog for about 3 weeks now and have done absolutely nothing with it. I decided that I couldn't go another day without writing something, anything to fill up the empty space.
A little bit about us right now:
We are trying to get through the last couple of days of classes. This is the time of year when we have to deal with all the procrastination we have been doing the rest of the semester. It's amazing though, even when deadlines are just around the corner I am still managing to put things off. I have come to realize that procrastination is a real talent.
We are both super excited for summer to be here. It has still been really cold in Utah and I think our winter coats are ready for a break. The forecast boasts of a high in the 50's today so I'm keeping my fingers crossed. Along with warm weather we are looking forward to going up to Ogden a lot this summer to visit my brother, Thane, and his wife, Melanie.
Well I guess that is about it right now. It's not much, but it's something. Have a great day: )
